Add Your Page to D2L

Learn how to add your custom-made page to D2L.

After creating your page, you can add it to D2L in a few easy steps. It may be helpful to keep the Page Builder open in another tab or browser window as you add the page to D2L. 

  1. Click on the Copy Page button to copy the HTML code to your clipboard. 
  2. Open your D2L course site.
  3. Click on the Content tab and navigate to the module (or submodule) to which you want to add the web page. 
  4. Click on the Upload/Create button, and select Create a File from the dropdown menu. 
  5. Add a title to the web page.
  6.  In the D2L HTML Editor, click on the HTML Source Code button.
  7.  In the popup window, paste in the copied HTML code. 
    • Tip: It is best to clear out any text in this window before pasting in your HTML code. 
  8.  Click Save.
  9. Add your course content to the page. 
  10.  Click on the Save and Close button to publish your changes, or save your progress and come back at a later time. 
    • Remember to remove any #ToDo items from your page for a polished course design. 

How to Use the Accessibility Checker in D2L

There is one more important step after you are done building your page and adding your content. It is important to check for accessibility and address any potential barriers that a student might encounter. 

  1. Open your D2L Course site. 
  2. Click on the Content tab and navigate to the module (or submodule) on which you want to run the accessibility checker. 
  3. Click on the page to view it. 
  4. Click on the Edit HTML button. 
  5. In the toolbar, click on the Accessibility Checker icon. 
  6. The accessibility checker will appear in a window on the right side of the HTML editor. 
  7. Follow the instructions listed in the accessibility checker to address any issues it may have found. 
    • If there are multiple issues on a page, use the up and down arrows in the accessibility checker to review them. 
  8. Click on the Save and Close button to save your changes when you are done.
